This is a video tutorial/ walk-through of how I refine a sketch in Photoshop.

I already had a thumbnail with the rough idea of what I would draw. This next step is drawing out all the details before I "ink" the outline for the final image.

The key is to not afraid to make changes!!
Feel free to ask any questions you may have on this!

(btw: this picture is a commission piece)

Done in Photoshop, on a Cintiq tablet monitor.
Total time of this video: 5 minutes
Actual time for me to do this video: 47 minutes.

This is an awesome tutorial. I love to see how artists work in real time rather than in screenshots. Just one question: How did you record your progress? I see few other artists uploading their video tutorials and I wonder how they do it? Is there a special software or so? I'd love to know!

this was really educational, but i have a couple questions:

How do you get your line width to be thick and thin, is there a trick to it, or is it a tablet setting?

also

When your image was sent someplace with a transparent background and you made minor ajudstments to the image with a large cirular tool, what is that called, and how do you access it in photoshop?

thankyou

thick and thin likes are how hard i press onto my tablet. In order to get that to happen in photoshop though, the brush you select will have to enable pressure sensitive lines. look here to see my brush setting: [link]

the thing with the transparent background is the liquify tool (its under filters). it usually takes a while to load, and make sure you are on the right layer when you use it. I usually pick a rather large brush to move the proportions around (dont be afraid to play around with it, experiment!)

^.^ hope that helps!
